No Classes @ Warmley Sunday 12th Sept
Salsa Montuno-Uk is a fresh, original and progressive approach to Salsa, based in Bristol. Along side the tuition programme by qualified members of the UKA (United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing and Kindred Arts). Salsa Montuno-uk was started to provide fun Classes, Workshops and Party Nights for both Beginners and Experienced Dancers who want to work on Improving their Technique and Dancing.
Since February 2009 we have been running Technique Workshops for Men & Ladies to learn and Improve together, whilst learning more in depth knowledge of the music and turn patterns involved in Salsa, and to understand the Musicality within the Dance. Partner not needed to attend the Workshops and Classes.
The team has also grown this year as we now run a Monthly Party Night at Warmley Community Centre. The team now includes, Lee Swift (UKA Qualified Teacher), Steve Roberts, Vijay Patel, Damon Pulsford and of course the lovely ladies Vanessa and Samantha.
What does Montuno mean?
Montuno is a passage of improvisation in Cuban and salsa numbers, based on a two or three-chord pattern repeated ad-lib under the instrumental or vocal improvisations. The piano often maintains a repeated vamp of guajeos, a process known as montuneando.
Like our name, we provide people with the chance to learn the techniques of Leading and Following, to be able to Improvise during Freestyle dancing, and Express their Own Individualism, but most importantly at a pace that suits your abilities.
